The Definition Of Demagoguery

Since both parties are throwing this word around so much lately, I wanted to know what it meant, here is the answer:

Definition of DEMAGOGUE

: a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power

: a leader championing the cause of the common people in ancient times 

 

Depending on which side you believe, both parties are applying both definitions of the word. I prefer to believe what I see, not what I hear. In WI, I see the actions of the Republican party and they are hell bent on denying health care to those in need. Their claims of 'saving medicare'... fail, they want to privatize it and they have taken all the necessary steps to achieve their goal. Time and again I have read reports and watched video of hearings and town halls and the Republicans sit there with vacant, annoyed looks on their faces as people tell their heartbreaking stories and why medicaid is so vital to their lives. They just don't care, the sad thing is, these are elected officials, people voted them into office, these officials represent the will of their constituents and I read comments by these constituents that praise the officials for doing these horrible things. I think it going to be a long hard fight for the people of WI to undo all the damage that is being done by this administration and it's followers. This also shows what's in the hearts of the people not only here but around the country, have people become so calloused to the human suffering of our neighbors, friends and family that they are eager to support this pain and suffering? Anyone that supports these corrosive agenda's better pray that they never need the programs they are decimating or sympathy when a tragedy hits them.
